Inspiration from the Fleur de Lis. A native of south Louisiana, Jo Busse has been emersed in the French culture most of her life, where the Fleur de Lis can be found everywhere. Its in the architecture, art, and culture. It is especially important as a symbol for the celebration of Mardi Gras.

Fleur de Lis by Jo was created in 2003 during Mardi Gras when she used the symbol on the announcements of a 12th Night party, as the outgoing Queen of the Mardi Gras in Breckenridge, Colorado. The first production began in September, 2004, when she moved home to Louisiana from a six year stay in Colorado. Soon afterward, her daughter, Mary Catherine, was so impressed she asked her to paint Fleur de Lis to use in her home. How could she resist?

Her adult children and friends in New Roads, Louisiana encouraged her to pursue her creativity, a passion which began in her high school years. Her paintings would be creative, colorful, (maybe even 'outlandish'), and offer an exciting, happy glimpse of the Fleur de Lis to other collectors of this image. Jo has continued to paint the beloved symbol and her passion has flourished. After all, art runs in her family. Jo's great-great grandfather, Jeremiah Supple, designed and hand-made the many gorgeous freizes at Nottoway Plantation in White Castle, Louisiana 150 years ago.

The Fleur de Lis, like for so many before her, is a timeless passion and a wonderful symbol to embrace. Browse through her Online Store and see if there is a Fleur de Lis painting that inspires you!
